Veranda 2007 Oda Chardonnay (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $25
Toasty and warmed up on the bouquet by butterscotch and peach melba, but overall it keeps its cool-climate personality. The palate is juicy, but that only helps propel the apple, green banana and nut-driven flavors in the wine. Slightly creamy on the finish.  — M.S.  (9/1/2009)

Veranda 2008 Chardonnay (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $18
Good Chilean Chard with sweet, honeyed aromas that are pleasantly dusty and include apple and peach. The smooth palate has apple as a core flavor, while nectarine and barrel notes are present as well. Long and full on the finish; not world class but elevated if measured by local standards.  — M.S.  (12/31/2009)

Veranda 2008 Carmenère-Cabernet Sauvignon (Colchagua Valley)

  1. $19
Piercing on the nose, with aromas of earth, tobacco, oak and ripe berry fruit. The palate is snappy, while the flavor profile is serious and contains quality cherry, blackberry and cassis flavors. Spicy on the finish and composed as a whole. Borders on elegant.  — M.S.  (7/1/2010)

Veranda 2007 Chardonnay (Casablanca Valley)

  1. $20
Pretty on the nose, with mild apple and pear scents. The wine shows good balance and body, with flavors of pineapple, apple and green melon. It’s got all the fruit you could ask for, but some of that fruit is of the sweet banana and plantain family. Which for some means too sweet.  — M.S.  (9/1/2008)

Veranda 2008 Apalta Vineyard Syrah (Colchagua Valley)

  1. $19
Candied, sweet and strained on the nose, with blackberry, plum and fresh-laid asphalt aromas. The palate is healthy and high in acidity, but the flavors of blackberry, toast and herbs come together fairly well. Slightly warm and baked on the finish. Has its share of character, attributes and flaws.  — M.S.  (3/1/2010)

Veranda 2002 Founder's Reserve Red (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $50
Boisset, a Burgundian négociant, is involved in this Franco-Chilean joint venture, and this blend is smooth and clean, with driving berry fruit. In the mouth, cherry and raspberry notes come across as high-voltage, especially in the midpalate, but with ample spice there’s more than enough to latch on to.  — M.S.  (3/1/2004)

  1. $27
Earth, smoke, leather and raspberry make for a pretty inviting bouquet, while the palate is fresh but mellow, with mildly tangy raspberry and cherry flavors. Overall this is a pleasant, cut-the-fairway wine with touches of mocha, cinnamon and earth to ponder. 350 cases produced.  — M.S.  (9/1/2009)

Veranda 2007 Oda Carmenère (Colchagua Valley)

  1. $27
Hard, spicy and rubbery on the nose, with ripe, semi-baked flavors of rubber, black fruit and hardy oak. There’s a ton of wood spice and clove as it opens, and nothing is finessed. Dark and chocolaty on the finish, with even more oak.  — M.S.  (5/1/2010)
