Vicara 1999 Cantico della Crosia Barbera (Monferrato)
Price
$23
Despite a leafy, damp nose that takes forever to open, this wine has plenty to offer once you start drinking it. The palate is packed with raspberry, chocolate and buttery oak. Even more oak comes on late in the finish. Full and vital acidity keeps it vibrant, making it a fine wine for dinner.

Vicara 1996 Barbera (Barbera del Monferrato)
Price
$15
Fully mature and foresty, with raisin-chocolate notes on the nose. Moderately complex, with a tea-like note to the cherry fruit. Has a lean feel and finishes with aromas of dried flowers. Elegant and soft, but getting on in age.

Vicara 1997 Cantico della Crosia Barbera (Barbera del Monferrato)
Price
$21
Sweet candy, Kool-Aid, and oak emerge from the bouquet to lead cherry-chocolate flavors and more oak. The overall impression is jammy and sweet, with some tartness and heavy woodiness fighting for attention on the finish.
