Vietti 2006 Brunate Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Cellar Selection
Price
$130
Bravo! The Brunate cru has awarded Vietti with a stellar product: a wine that is unusually dark and plush with impressive intensity and crafted aromas of black fruit, spice, earth, licorice, balsam and gianduia chocolate-hazelnut spread. The soft, velvety texture is seductively delicious and the wine will age many long, glorious years.

Vietti 2006 Rocche Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Cellar Selection
Price
$130
Rocche Barolo is another homerun for Vietti. You’ll fall in love with the wine’s rich intensity and the ensuing complexity that becomes apparent as the wine spends more time in the glass. Thanks to a continuing evolution, you’ll recognize aromas of wild berry, smoke, crushed stone, licorice, cola and mesquite. The tannins are silky and smooth. Hold ten years or more.

Vietti 2005 Rocche Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Cellar Selection
Price
$125
Rocche is a standout wine that offers just about everything you look for in an excellent Barolo. There’s power, complexity and personality here that is enhanced by lusciously intense aromas of chocolate, allspice, blackberry, licorice and cola. It’s a beautifully healthy wine with a bright color, bold extraction, a soft finish and direct delivery. Drink in 5–10 years.

Vietti 2005 Brunate Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Price
$125
The Brunate cru with its excellent exposure and thicker soils is usually known for its hearty, deeply concentrated wines. Instead, here we find an elegant almost feminine expression with pretty nuances of vanilla, forest berry and dried violets. It certainly does not lack power or concentration, and the delivery is subtle and nuanced.

Vietti 2007 Brunate Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Cellar Selection
Price
$130
Vietti’s iconic Barolo from the Brunate cru deserves a special spot in your cellar collection. The wine delivers power and heft thanks to ideal vineyard conditions in 2007. It also exhibits the vintner’s unique style, in which oak tones are set against the delicate aromas associated with quality Nebbiolo.

Vietti 2007 Lazzarito Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Price
$130
This is a delicious wine on all levels. Lazzarito opens in a bold, masculine style with overtones of ripe cherry fruit, leather and cured beef jerky. The wine then segues to soft, textured tannins with power and extra length on the close. It’s impossible not to fall in love with a wine of this caliber.

Vietti 2005 Lazzarito Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Cellar Selection
Price
$125
Lazzarito is an outstanding achievement and a wonderful example of the staying power of Barolo. The wine is redolent of sweet spice, clove, smoked bacon, licorice and roasted almond—in fact, it’s almost too much of a good thing. There are deep layers here and the wine boasts a soft velvety feel. Drink 2015–2020.

Vietti 1996 Villero Riserva Nebbiolo (Piedmont)
Price
$145
With its sweet dried fruits on the nose, and solid, almost dusty tannins and wood flavors, it has repaid the extra wood aging. The wine is only released six years after harvest and produced in small quantities.
