Vilafonté 2003 Series M Red (Paarl)

  1. $50
Rounder and softer in the mouth than the Series C, with plump plum and chocolate flavors that pick up hints of caramel, toast and dried herbs on the finish. Soft but not unstructured, this is immediately likeable. Drink now–2010. It might last longer, but why chance it?  — W.E.  (11/15/2005)

Vilafonté 2005 Series M Red (Paarl)

  1. $50
Zelma Long’s tradition of excellence continues with the Series M: Its deep chocolate, cinnamon and berry aromas and full, complex waves of delicious fruit and spice are exactly what a Bordeaux blend should be. Restrained but memorable, the wine has firm structure and will age beautifully.  — S.K.  (3/1/2008)

Vilafonté 2006 Series M Red (Paarl)

  1. $35
The regal Series M blend starts with aromas of dark juicy plum and black currant, coffee and chocolate, rolling into an array of bright, spicy black fruit, tobacco and cedar. Rich and savory on the palate but enlivened by good minerality, it’s a classic South African red with world-class balance.  — S.K.  (8/1/2010)
