A distinguished little red wine. It’s all Garnacha, and it’s round and a touch citrusy on the nose, while the palate delivers pure, ripe cherry and raspberry flavors. Generous, balanced and shapely. What more could you ask for five bucks?

Violet and herb, leather and meat accents adorn the tart plum and cherry nose, which shows plenty of Garnacha character. It’s followed by a tangy, cracked-peppery mouthful of fruit that carries through the brisk, dry finish. Very few wines at this price offer this level of flavor and feel, and smart shoppers will find it on sale for even less. Best Buy. —M.M.

Floral, sweet and not the least bit complicated or strained. This is easygoing red wine for easy times. It’s a bit candied and baked, but that’s Garnacha from Central Spain. Decently balanced and sturdy, especially given the price tag.
