Viña Morande 2001 Edicion Limitada Golden Reserve Red (Loncomilla Valley)

  1. $80
Aged in new American oak for 20 months, this wine has intense aromas of vanilla and toast, but that’s backed by ample blackberry, black cherry and raspberry scents. It’s a juicy, medium-weight wine, not overly rich, but packed with raspberries, dried herbs and brown sugar. Finishes long and toasty—and might be more reminiscent of some Riojas than most Chilean wines…  — W.E.  (11/1/2005)

Viña Morande 2000 Terrarum Cabernet Sauvignon (Maipo Valley)

  1. $9
Clean, fresh and welcoming, with a complex hint of bacon and spice. The mouth is full of plum, cherry and other berry notes, making for a satisfying palate. The finish is smooth and adequately long, and while it’s a touch weak at the core, it’s still a nice wine.  — M.S.  (12/1/2002)

Viña Morande 2000 Pionero Cabernet Sauvignon (Central Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
Herbal notes mingle with lavender and hints of wood on the bouquet. Wild berry flavors along with a touch of bacon follow on the palate. The finish is light and a tad woody, and the finishing note is one of chocolate. The midpalate isn’t terribly full, but it’s far from a vacuous wine. For the price, it delivers.  — M.S.  (12/1/2002)
