Viña Siegel 2000 Crucero Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (Colchagua Valley)
Best Buy
Price
$13
Loads of _mocha and toffee aromas come across on the nose along with some black olive and standard Cabernet fruit. Vivacious cherry, plum and cassis flavors grace the tight, structured palate, and the well-oaked finish delivers a blast of chocolate and espresso. This young wine is solid and well made—a pure and positive _expression of the Colchagua Valley.

Viña Siegel 2006 Gran Crucero Limited Edition Red (Colchagua Valley)
Price
$27
The opening of tobacco, lemon peel, floral notes and mixed black fruits is alluring, while the palate is crisp and acidic but still fresh and good. Herbal berry fruit flavors with citric hints work the flavor profile, and the finish smacks down with firm tannins and bite. Nice aromas and flavors but the mouthfeel needs some work. 55% Carmenère with 30% Syrah and…

Big, bold and bulky on the bouquet, with a truck load of ripe blackberry and boysenberry aromas that rightly announce that a fruit bomb is coming. Feels plump, round and structured, with soft tannins and compact flavors of berries, black plums and herbs. Finishes full, with a mild herbal accent.

Viña Siegel 2008 Crucero Carmenère (Colchagua Valley)
Best Buy

Price
$10
Herbal, powerful and varietally on the money, with common but well-executed aromas of earth, blackberry and olives. The palate offers proper weight and intensity, while the flavors of black plum, raspberry and tea are just herbal enough to scream out “Carmenère.” Tasty and consistent from nose to finish.

Viña Siegel 2001 Crucero Cabernet Sauvignon (Colchagua Valley)

The nose is forceful and bold, but somewhat nondescript. Plum fruit leaps from the palate, and so does chocolate. In fact, chocolate is the overriding characteristic in this wine, so if that’s your bag, then dig in. The finish is warm and expansive.

Viña Siegel 2011 Crucero Chardonnay (Colchagua Valley)

Aromas of animal crackers, vanilla and tropical fruits are friendly. Feels fresh and offers acidic cut, while the flavor profile deals nothing but citrus and tropical fruits. Smooth, likable and overtly simple in nature.

Dark and toasty, with ripe cherry and berry aromas offset by herbal shadings and an aroma of earthy, wet clay. Feels fresh and ready, with a standard blend of sweet berry flavors, oak, spice and herbs. Turns toastier and slightly bitter on the finish.

Viña Siegel 2009 Gran Crucero Limited Edition Red (Colchagua Valley)
Price
$29
Initially it smells a bit green, like tobacco, lettuce and herbs mixed with berry fruit and chocolate. In the mouth, it’s ripped with acidity and a bit jagged, with herbal red fruit flavors along with a lemony, citrusy tang. Chippy on the finish because of the high acid level, but flavorful and crisp.
