There is no interference here; just pure, big-boned, modern-style Tempranillo flavors of currants, blackberry and soft, cuddly oak. Finishes with cream and coconut, but length and power as well. Textbook alta expresión wine, with great color and a meaty, extracted ultra rich nose that oozes sandalwood, bacon and a rush of black fruit. In a word, it’s chewy. This is a great wine, from a vintage that wasn’t great. The nose is smooth and rich, with raspberry, plum, fine oak and all the spice that comes with it. The palate feels fresh and healthy, with racy blackberry fruit tempered by creamy chocolate, vanilla and spice. Like most high-end wines from the Eguren family, this is right on the money. Drink now through 2018.
