Vinos Sanz 2004 Finca La Colina Sauvignon Blanc (Rueda)
In Rueda, sometimes the Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo taste similar. But in this case there’s no mistaking things. This S.B. is sharp, with teeth to the nose and palate. Classic sweaty gooseberry aromas lead to pure citrus, slate and grass on the tongue. As good as you’re going to find in Spanish Sauvignon.

Vinos Sanz 2006 Finca la Colina Cien X Cien Verdejo (Rueda)
Price
$23
This wine is made from old-vines Verdejo and it shows more minerality and intensity than something made from younger grapes. The nose has wax, mineral and citrus aromas, while the palate shows passion fruit and pineapple flavors. Grows on you nicely with structure, acidity and a smack of Rueda terroir.

Vinos Sanz 2006 Montesol Verdejo (Rueda)
Price
$15
Slightly warmer in style, with caramel and vanilla aromas, yet the palate runs more toward freshness, with orange and pineapple standing out. With its good acidity and zest, this wine won’t ever be called flabby. Drink now for solid results.

Vinos Sanz 2006 Montesol Clásico White (Rueda)

A little warmer and rounder than most. This waxy wine offers banana and melon on the nose, while the palate is just juicy and racy enough, with apple and citrus anchoring things. Finishes easy and will go well with salads and seafood.

Vinos Sanz 2006 Montesol Sauvignon Blanc (Rueda)

Oily and pungent, as if the cat were not let out of the house. But airing reveals a wide spectrum of green, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables. There’s passion fruit, green pastures and some citrus in this varietally typical Rueda SB.

Vinos Sanz 2006 Finca la Colina Sauvignon Blanc (Rueda)
Online Exclusive
Price
$30
Oily and citrusy, with pungent, almost nutty aromas that are at once exotic but simultaneously funky and sour. The palate hits with chopping passion fruit and citrus, but there’s also some banana to contemplate. In the end, it’s just too hard to embrace and go beyond a sip or two, which isn’t a great testimonial.
