Vizcarra 2006 Ines Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $125
More muscular and dark than its sibling Celia, with rich, jammy, sweet aromas of mocha and baked berries. It’s an oaky style that works due to the wine’s massive concentration and structure. It flows easily with no coarseness or roughness. Excellent and cut from the modern mold. Drink now–2018.  — M.S.  (10/1/2010)

Vizcarra 2006 Celia Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $125
A bright and very pretty wine that bursts with raspberry and plum aromas. The palate is finely balanced and clean as a whistle, and in general this small-production bottling represents the region gracefully, but with some kick and power. It only gets richer and more serious with airing. Drink 2012–2022.  — M.S.  (10/1/2010)

Vizcarra 2008 JC Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $24
Meaty and dense aromas of black fruits, earth and leather are subtle and interesting. Layered and smooth on the palate, with deep berry and plum flavors offset by herbal leanings and vanilla. Slightly oaky on the finish, with length and liveliness. Drink now through 2014.  — M.S.  (12/15/2011)

Vizcarra 2007 JC Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $24
Initiates with savory, mildly soupy aromas on top of berry fruit. The palate is plump, ripe and balanced, with mocha, coffee and dark, meaty berry flavors. Toasty, dry and very solid on the finish, and convincingly rich as a whole.  — M.S.  (8/1/2010)

Vizcarra 2008 Senda del Oro Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $18
Opens with peppery, earthy black cherry and berry aromas, yet the palate is clacky and narrow, with high acidity and dry, limited flavors of blackberry and black cherry. Narrow as well on the finish. Middle-of-the road and respectable but hardly a head-turner.  — M.S.  (8/1/2010)
