Washington Hills 2010 Sauvignon Blanc (Washington)

Top 100 Best Buys 2011
Aromatically inviting, with a lovely mix of sweet grass and light, fresh sugar pea scents. Tart, spicy passionfruit, grapefruit and starfruit flavors contribute to a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, with plenty of acidity that does not turn at all sour.  — P.G.  (11/1/2011)

Washington Hills 2007 Summit Reserve Late Harvest Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $8
With its 10% alcohol, bright fruit and lush, round mouthfeel, this is more mainstream (and main meal) than the late harvest label would suggest. The sweetness is perfectly balanced against firm acids, and the fruit flavors combine citrus and peach with light streaks of honey.  — P.G.  (6/1/2009)

Washington Hills 2007 Summit Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
Very young, juicy, loaded with boysenberry and black cherry fruit. There is a strong streak of licorice, hints of tobacco and vanilla, but plenty of muscle and stiff tannins. A substantial effort, this ranks at the top of the list of Washington Cabernet Sauvignon priced under $10.  — P.G.  (6/1/2009)

  1. $10
It’s hard to find a $10 Cabernet with this much muscle and depth. Solid black cherry and cassis fruit anchors a wine with dark streaks of espresso, bitter chocolate and smoke. The tannins are nicely ripened also, and the wine leaves a chocolaty trail as it fades.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)

Washington Hills 2001 Dry Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
This is just the second vintage for this value producer’s “dry” Riesling. Though labeled dry, this wine definitely lights up the fruity side of the street, with detectable (0.7%) residual sugar. Exceptionally fragrant, with candied honeysuckle scents, and sweetly alluring. 705 cases produced. Best Buy. —P.G.  — P.G.  (12/31/2002)

Washington Hills 2010 Late Harvest Sweet Riesling (Washington)

  • Best Buy
  1. $9
Off-dry (thanks to searing acidity, matched against 4.4% residual sugar), this pleasant sipper also brings lemon tea flavors, and a light, graceful structure to bear. Apricot and peach fruit, lightly kissed with tangerine, makes it a solid sipper.  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)

Washington Hills 2006 Chardonnay (Washington)

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
The blend includes 6% Pinot Gris. This is a crisp, well-crafted bottle of wine, with more flesh and fruit than the Pine & Post Chardonnay from Precept Brands. Melon, pear, and orange fruit is accented with a little honey; this is a big step forward for this brand.  — P.G.  (6/1/2009)

Washington Hills 2007 Summit Reserve Chardonnay (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
Definitely a step up from the regular Chardonnay; this is more substantial, bringing in some mineral, citrus rind and spice along with apple and pear flavors.  — P.G.  (6/1/2009)
