Wattle Creek 2010 Sauvignon Blanc (Yorkville Highlands)

  1. $19
So bone dry and acidic, the tastebuds start whistling at the first sip. Defines the racy personality of Sauvignon Blanc, with a palate-stimulating tang and lime, lemongrass and mineral flavors. The best Wattle Creek Sauvignon Blanc ever.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

Wattle Creek’s best Triple Play ever. A blend of Syrah, Viognier and Petite Sirah from this cool appellation in Mendocino County, the wine is dry, medium- to full-bodied, tannic and complex, with flavors of blackberries, currants, tobacco, smoked meat, cedar and scads of black pepper. Drink now for its sheer power and joy.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

Wattle Creek 2006 Sauvignon Blanc (Mendocino County)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $17
Only 4% of this wine was barrel fermented in new oak. The majority was stainless-steel fermented. But that little bit of oak adds a subtle smoky richness to the brilliant fruit, which is a blast of tart gooseberries and Meyer lemons. Totally dry, with relatively low alcohol of only 13.3%, this is really great Sauvignon Blanc.  — S.H.  (12/15/2007)

Wattle Creek 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma County)

  1. $50
Leathery fruit and a bit of bramble or field greens mark the nose, and the earthy red-currant palate strikes a claret-like note. It’s a little lighter than the competition, and it does show some defined tartness. Drink sooner than later, and try to serve it with food.  — W.E.  (11/1/2000)

Wattle Creek 2000 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Alexander Valley)

  1. $47
Notable for the soft, velvety texture that glides over the palate and leaves behind a pleasant scour of tannin. The flavors are restrained but elegant, suggesting blackcurrant, cherry and sage. This balanced wine is feminine in its charm.  — S.H.  (8/1/2004)
