Wildekrans 2001 Estate Wine Pinotage (Walker Bay)

  1. $15
This well-balanced wine tastes deliciously Old World. Aromas of herbs, pastry dough and cocoa powder are unique to the nose. Reserved plum skin and cherry flavors blend nicely with those of meat juices, leather and dried tobacco.  — K.F.  (9/1/2003)

Wildekrans 2001 Barrel Selection Estate Wine Pinotage (Walker Bay)

  1. $25
The smoky meat and cherry flavors are relatively fresh, while the feel is a bit bracing. This is nicely done, probably best paired with rustic or grilled fare. A little more time in the bottle should shine this up even more.  — K.F.  (9/1/2003)

Wildekrans 2005 Chenin Blanc (Walker Bay)

  1. $15
A totally dry Chenin, and as a consequence great with food, this wine comes from the cool-climate Elgin region close to the ocean. The acidity is great, and the only thing that spoils this wine initially is a touch of sulfur, but it blows away after some time in the glass. Imported by Boutique Wine Collection.  — R.V.  (11/15/2005)

Yellow nectarine and toffee aromas are accented by hints of banana and fresh green beans. The palate is similar, less the beans. Overall, it’s crisp and fresh; finishes with nectarine, herbs and a hint of menthol. —K.F.  — K.F.  (4/1/2003)

Wildekrans 2002 Estate Wine Sauvignon Blanc (Walker Bay)

  1. $8
Aromas of stone fruit, lemon candy, fresh-mown hay and toffee meet on a lightweight palate that is rife with flinty citrus. The finish has quite an herbal streak that borders on spearmint. —K.F.  — K.F.  (4/1/2003)

Wildekrans 2001 Estate Wine Sémillon (Walker Bay)

  1. $15
Very yellow coloring paves the way to aromas of dusty newsprint and meat juices. Dig deep to find light citrus fruit that carries to the palate with a dose of eucalyptus. Its odd notes are slightly more acceptable than the lack of body and focus. —K.F.  — K.F.  (4/1/2003)

Wildekrans 2000 Warrant Estate Wine Red (Walker Bay)

  1. $25
A faint herbal note ribbons around creamy vanilla, currant and plum skin flavors. The tannins are snug and mouthcoating, carrying out to the herbal finish.  — K.F.  (9/1/2003)

Wildekrans 2001 Estate Wine - Cabernet Franc/Merlot Red (Walker Bay)

  1. $13
With 91% Cabernet Franc, this wine displays strong, vegetal, reedy aromas and flavors. There is red plum and cedar laid out over supportive acidity and tannins, but the finish is of bitter eucalyptus.  — K.F.  (9/1/2003)
