Windshaker Ridge 2004 Carnelian (Western Australia)

  1. $14
Here’s a variety you never see, let alone from Australia. The nose offers notes of bread, cracker and forward berry. Ripe blackberry flavors are dusty and sandy around the edges, and close with soft tannins. Not a huge, overstuffed wine; fine for the dinner table. 1,000 cases imported. Windshaker Ridge 2003 Verdelho (Western Australia)

  • Best Buy
  1. $13
This very likable Verdelho offers straw and hay aromas, plus a little Band-aid, on the nose. The mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with flavors of yellow peach flesh and lavender. The longer it sits, the more toasty it seems to get, so adjust your drinking speed accordingly. Imported by Windshaker Ridge Imports.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)

Windshaker Ridge 2005 Verdelho (Western Australia)

  1. $14
Just the right size; just acidic enough. Has olive-oil aromas, and floral, citrus and grass flavors. Smooth on the palate, finishing with some peach. Will have many fans.  — D.T.  (10/1/2006)

Windshaker Ridge 2003 Shiraz (Western Australia)

  1. $13
Tastes cool and crisp, just as it smells: think dried cherry fruit, with a minty streak. Feels thin at first, but give it some time in the glass to come around. 25,000 cases produced. Imported by Windshaker Ridge Imports.  — D.T.  (12/1/2005)

Windshaker Ridge 2003 Carnelian (Western Australia)

  1. $13
An interesting, simple but pleasing wine. Aromas are of blackberry and violet, and the palate offers up a mixed berry basket full of flavor. Has papery-smooth tannins, and softens with air. A good quaff. 25,000 cases produced. Imported by Windshaker Ridge Imports.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)

Windshaker Ridge 2003 Chardonnay (Western Australia)

  1. $13
This straightforward Chardonnay is pretty soft and approachable in the mouth, with flavors of apple and citrus. Smells very appley, too, with a spritz of lemon. Good for casual affairs; 15,000 cases produced. Imported by Windshaker Ridge Imports.  — D.T.  (10/1/2005)
