Wine Guerrilla 2007 Coffaro Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
This is Wine Guerilla’s most costly Zin and also their best, most Zinny one. It’s textbook Dry Creek Valley. Dry, rich and high in alcohol but balanced, it offers waves of grilled wild berry, mocha, red licorice, raisin, cinnamon and nutmeg flavors, wrapped into gorgeous tannins.  — S.H.  (3/1/2009)

Wine Guerrilla 2007 Forchini Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
This seriously good Zin shows off its ancient vineyard’s terroir as well as Dry Creek’s amenability for Zinfandel. Rich and complex, the wine is very spicy, flooding the mouth with creamy flavors of grilled red cherries, red currants, Fig Newton cookies, mocha and even a hint of sweet, char-broiled beefsteak. Now through 2012.  — S.H.  (3/1/2009)

Wine Guerrilla 2006 Coffaro Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)

  1. $30
This is one of those old-style field blend types of wines, with some other varieties besides Zin. A big, tannic, juicy, fruity wine, potent in jammy blackberry, blueberry, currant, dark unsweetened chocolate, coffee and pepper flavors that cry out for gilled beef, poultry or pork.  — S.H.  (7/1/2008)

Wine Guerrilla 2006 Two Vineyards Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)

  1. $25
A fine example of a certain style of Dry Creek Zin, this one shows the brambly, wild berry character of the variety. You’ll find cherries and wild berries, but also country herb notes of nettles, chamomile and sage, and a finish like cherry-infused coffee. The dry, tannic finish calls for grilled meat dishes.  — S.H.  (7/1/2008)

Wine Guerrilla 2008 Forchini Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)

  1. $30
The heat from high alcohol combines with Zinfandel’s natural pepperiness to produce a hot, high decibel mouthfeel. If you can get past that, you’ll find rich flavors of berries, currants and cocoa.  — S.H.  (4/1/2010)
