Wrath 2007 Doctor's Vineyard Syrah (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $50
Syrah is the secret weapon of the Highlands, and Wrath has produced a very fine one in this massive ‘07. Made in the Northern Rhône style, it’s dark, full-bodied and dry, with rich flavors of black-berries, currants, beef jerky, dark chocolate, blackpepper, violets and plenty of smoky oak. Brilliant and compelling. Now through 2013.  — S.H.  (11/1/2009)

Wrath 2009 Fairview Vineyard Syrah (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $39
This wine is full-bodied and extraordinarily rich, with massive blackberry and blueberry jam, Canadian bacon, sandalwood and pepper flavors. It’s so sweetly delicious, you just want to keep on drinking. Almost too much of a good thing, though.  — S.H.  (12/1/2011)

Wrath 2008 Quasi Nulla Pinot Noir (Monterey)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $38
This Pinot is pure California in its ripe fruitiness. It’s explosive in cherry and raspberry jam flavors, with sandalwood and dusty spice notes, and also displays crisp, cool-climate acidity. A delicious wine to drink now.  — S.H.  (3/1/2011)

Wrath 2008 San Saba Vineyard Pinot Noir (Monterey)

  1. $49
The vineyard bears only a Monterey appellation, but the location is strategically close to both the Santa Lucia Highlands and the Arroyo Seco. The wine is quite good, racy in acidity and dry. It offers complex flavors of strawberries and cherries, with earthier notes of sautéed wild mushrooms and mulch. A real success, and a wine that will pick up bottle complexity…  — S.H.  (11/1/2010)

Wrath 2008 Destruction Level Sauvignon Blanc (Monterey)

  1. $29
Very rich and layered, a dry, crisply acidic wine that gets the mouth watering like a Sauvignon Blanc should. Shows flavors of citrus fruits, gooseberries, green grass, vanilla and minerals, with a touch of tart pyrazines.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)

Wrath 2007 877/Noir Syrah (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $35
This is a generous, likable Syrah for drinking soon. It’s dark in color, full-bodied and dry, with ripe flavors of blackberries, plums, cola, anise, sandalwood and peppery spices. The soft tannins help the wine finish rich and silky.  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)

Wrath 2007 San Saba Vineyard Chardonnay (Monterey)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $55
About as oaky as a Chardonnay can get without crossing the line, although some will think it has. Shows strong flavors of buttered toast, smoky caramel and crème brûlée, with underlying fruit notes of grilled pineapples and pear preserves. Good, but the winemaker might pull it back a little in the future.  — S.H.  (11/1/2009)

Wrath 2010 Ex Anima Syrah (Monterey)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $25
Very strongly flavored, and needs a salty cut of meat to tame its powers. Explodes with jammy blackberries, blueberries, cherries and raspberries, with a monster blast of black pepper. Bring on the sausages.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)
