Yarrabank 1996 Cuvée Brut Sparkling (Australia)
Price
$32
New to us, this handsome Aussie sparkler made by a French duo offers full aromas and flavors, an even bead and soft mousse. Green apple aromas and flavors predominate, with hay and bread accents. The back end displays a nice closing filled with limes.

Yarrabank 1999 Yering Station Cuvee Sparkling (Victoria)
Price
$22
Very good. Starts off crisp and clean, with aromas of mineral and dust, and flavors of bright citrus. Midpalate, it unfolds and softens a little, revealing hints of toast and caramel that persist through the finish. Imported by Epic Wines.

Yarrabank 2002 Cuvée Sparkling (Victoria)
Price
$28
Yarrabank is Yering Station’s sparkling-wine project, turning out a credible product that this vintage is a blend of 68% Chardonnay and 32% Pinot Noir. It boasts plenty of bright citrusy flavors, mixed with hints of apple and mineral. Despite four years on the yeasts, it doesn’t show a lot of toasty, autolytic character.

Yarrabank 2003 Cuvée Sparkling Wine (Victoria)
Price
$25
Elegant and a bit reticent. Citrus, toast and strawberry fruit gradually emerge on the nose, paving the way for sour apple and lemon character in the mouth. The fine mousse has good persistence. Crisp, then turns almost tart on the medium finish. Can be drunk now but the razor-like acidity will soften with two to three years aging.
