Yellow Hawk Cellar 2001 Muscat Canelli (Columbia Valley (WA))
Best Buy
Price
$12
A wine designed for summer, if ever there was one. Bone- dry and fragrant, with lemon, jasmine and fresh pear scents evolving into complex layers of pear, grapefruit and honey.

Price

Good vineyard sources—Ranch at the End, Chandler Reach and Willow Crest—but the bitter, leathery flavors impact all these wines. Here it’s less intrusive than in the Barbera, but it still fouls the finish with bacterial funk. Somewhere in here is some pretty cherry fruit.

Yellow Hawk Cellar 2004 Barbera (Columbia Valley (WA))
Online Exclusive
Price
$17
The wine has a very soft entry, with sweet, almost candied strawberry fruit flavors. Then it seems to hit a reductive wall, with flavors of burnt rubber sending a bitter streak through the midpalate and continuing through the finish.

Yellow Hawk Cellar 2005 Barbera (Columbia Valley (WA))

Leathery aromas are followed with clear indications of brett on the palate. The wine tastes leathery and slightly bitter; the pretty strawberry fruit is mostly masked as well. Tight, hard and a bit hot.

Yellow Hawk Cellar 2003 Mescolanza di Rosso Riserva Red (Columbia Valley (WA))
Online Exclusive
Price
$28
This wine doesn’t have much going on. It’s dried out, chalky in the mouth, stemmy and bitter with green tannins. The fruit is dried out and there is a scent of brett as well.

Yellow Hawk Cellar 2003 Sangiovese (Walla Walla Valley (WA))
Price
$19
Aromas of cracker, rubber and oatmeal swirl around the light, pretty strawberry fruit. It gets leathery in the mouth, and finishes sour.
